Frequently Asked Questions

The International Society for Respiratory Protection, ISRP, is a non-profit body whose charter is to provide an educational and informational service to all individuals involved in respiratory protection. The Society convenes conferences at various locations around the world at regular intervals. The main purpose of ISRP is to bring together occupational health and safety professionals in the field of respiratory protection to share ideas and research findings.
The purpose of the conference is to share the latest in respiratory protection research with the international community. The conference will include presentations (both live and on-demand), posters, and an exhibition.
ISRP conferences traditionally meet the criteria of several bodies (e.g. ABIH, BCSP, NSPE, and ISHM) for continuing education. Once the exact program is confirmed we will provide the estimated number of technical contact hours. Certificates of attendance will be provided on request to valid conference attendees.
While some regions are returning to a functional new normal, we were concerned that international travel restrictions would not allow the conference to offer the true international in person engagement that traditionally is experienced. We also felt the virtual experience and the ability to have the conference available around the clock will enable engagement from multiple regions to better educate and share knowledge around respiratory protection.
We encourage all potential attendees to consider presenting a paper or a poster. If you think you have something interesting to say on one of the session topics, please consider submitting an abstract.
We have introduced the ‘ignite’ topic to allow space for research that may not be fully complete or topics / technologies of interest to the respiratory protection community. These talks will be limited in time to ~ 5 -10 minutes.
Each paper is expected to run for about 20 minutes including 5 minutes for questions and comments. Session Chairs will be under strict instruction to keep to the program on time.
Live presentations will be presented at an advertised time and offer the opportunity for live question and answers from the audience. Live presentations will be made on-demand the day after the live presentation. Live presentation sessions will be staggered to ensure each of our six sections has an opportunity to attend at least one live session during their normal working hours.

On-Demand presentations will be made available at the beginning of the conference and continue to be available up to one month after the start of the conference. Attendees to the conference will have the opportunity to ask questions of the presenters and receive feedback during the conference month.
We are using ex ordo to manage our abstract submission process this year. Visit isrp2022.exordo.com to submit and refer to the support topic page for authors here. You will be required to create an account with ex ordo if you have not done so previously. We use this account as the primary form of communication with authors.
We expect to publish the program in the early part of 2022. The technical program each day will have a specific theme or set of themes. Presentations will concentrate on topics related to the daily theme(s). Each day we will have keynote speakers to introduce the theme(s) for the day. However, the conference is about more than scientific presentations. Even though the conference is virtual, a number of networking opportunities will be offered throughout the conference. These include online social events, and an exhibition for manufacturers, test houses, and other organizations associated with respiratory protection.
